The World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology African Network (WAAVP-AN) was officially launched on 26 – 27 June 2024, in Cotonou, Benin, under the theme “Advancing Veterinary Parasitology in Africa for Enhanced Control of Animal Parasitic Diseases.” This initiative highlights the critical role of veterinary parasitology in improving animal health, ensuring food security, and boosting agricultural productivity across the continent. The event brought together experts committed to combating animal parasitic diseases, fostering veterinary innovation, and addressing challenges in the livestock sector.
The launch of WAAVP-AN, officiated by Benin's Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Dossouhoui Gaston, marks a significant step towards improving African animal health and agricultural productivity. The Network's focus on cross-border collaboration, capacity building, and innovation is evident in its first Call for grant Proposals.
